"Prior
to our trip to Kathmandu, a friend recommended Hotel Jagat, so we
looked it up in our trusty Lonely Planet Guide. While you do mention the
hotel in your book,
I think it deserves a more enthusiastic endorsement.
The hotel is very clean. Even the bathrooms are spotless. Hotel Jagat is
the only hotel we saw in Nepal, including the Yak & Yeti and the
Club Himalya in Nagarkot, where there was no mildew in our bathroom. In
addition, we enjoyed consistently very hot water and great showers as if we were not in Asia but in the US, in NYC hotel!
The hotel is five minutes walk from the heart of Thamel, but is fairly
quiet if you are on the street side of the hotel, or very quiet if you
are in the garden side of the hotel.
The owner and his staff are fantastic! They picked us up from the
airport at midnight (at no charge) and were very helpful and informative
throughout our stay. They helped us book flights, haggle with taxi
drivers and arrange our Trekking trips. They stored our baggage while we
were away (at no charge), have an inexpensive laundry service and in
general were a pleasure to deal with.
"I highly recommend the Hotel Jagat to other travellers."

"I usually spend my holidays somewhere in "God-knows-where" forgotten places where no one can intefere and spoil my vacation that is just several weeks a year. Two years ago I went to Hawaii and stayed there in Kauai hotel and it was good. Not perfect though. There were tons of tourists from the US and Europe as well! And I prefer quiet and calm atmosphere so last year I visited Nepal and stayed at Jagat hotel... What can I say? It was AMAZING! I really adore this place and the service! I have never thought that it could be possible to find such a place and I almost lost hope when suddenly I read about Jagat hotel in the Internet. It was a great journey. If the next time Nepal is my place of destination - I will definitely choose Jagat hotel again!"
